Profile — Facts, Figures and Milestones
FC Augsburg, officially Fußball-Club Augsburg 1907 (abbreviated: FCA), is a sports club from Augsburg. It was formed in 1969 through the merger of BC Augsburg — founded on August 8, 1907 as FC Allemania — with the professional football department of TSV Schwaben Augsburg. Since 2011/12, FC Augsburg has played continuously in the Bundesliga (as of December 2019).
Die Vereinsfarben sind Rot, Grün und Weiß; auf dem Vereinslogo ist die Zirbelnuss abgebildet, welche dem Stadtwappen der Stadt Augsburg entnommen ist. Persönlichkeiten, die den FC Augsburg prägen, sind u. a. die Trainer Max Merkel, Thomas Tuchel und Armin Veh, die ehemaligen Nationalspieler Helmut Haller, Ernst Lehner und Bernd Schuster sowie die Weltmeister Raimund Aumann, Ulrich Biesinger und Karl-Heinz „Air“ Riedle.
FCA play their home matches at the WWK Arena, which holds 30,660 spectators. As of July 1, 2019, the club has approximately 16,000 members. A total of 75 FC Augsburg fan clubs were registered with the club as of August 2019.
