Numbers and Curiosities

The kind of knowledge that makes you the star of any party — at least in Swabia.

Number 51

In the Bundesliga's 49th year, FCA became the 51st club to reach Germany's top flight.

Season 2011/12: FC Augsburg stepped onto the Bundesliga stage for the first time.

The Haller Monument

Vice-world champion Helmut Haller has had his own monument since 2012.

He put Germany ahead in the 1966 World Cup final and died far too young in 2012. A life-size bronze figure of the legendary striker stands outside the WWK Arena on Bürgermeister-Ulrich-Straße.

Cult Striker Mölders

Sascha Mölders helped FCA stay up twice.

Almost 40 years after Helmut Haller, Mölders became the first FCA player to be invited to the ZDF Sportstudio. An Augsburg player on the TV show — that had been rare since the Haller era.

Three Managers in One Season

In the legendary 2012/13 rescue season, FCA had three different managers.

Sticking with coaches doesn't mean doing the same with managers.

Korean Connection

FCA has a soft spot for Korean professionals.

Jeong-ho Hong, Dong-won Ji, Ja-cheol Koo and Seong-hoon Cheon, promoted from the U19 in 2019 — four Koreans in Augsburg's service.

The Puppet Box Partnership

Since 2009, FCA has partnered with the Augsburger Puppenkiste.

The Kasperle predicts the result before every home game. The FCA captain presents the opposing captain with a marionette before kickoff.

A Flop Named Bancé

Aristide Bancé arrived from FSV Mainz 05 in 2011 as a great hope.

Together with Giovanni Sio, Knowledge Musona and Gibril Sankoh, he formed one of the most expensive and least successful strike forces in FCA history.

Almost Always in the Drop Zone

In 2012/13, FCA occupied a safe position on just two matchdays.

After Matchday 3 and after Matchday 34 — at the very start and the very end. The rest of the season was spent in the relegation zone.

Altintop's Historic Goal

Halil Altintop scored FCA's first-ever goal in European competition on September 17, 2015.

The 0–1 at Athletic Bilbao went down in club history.

Tiny Budget, Huge Result

With the second-smallest squad budget in the league, FCA reached the Europa League in 2014/15.

Around €22 million — and a 5th-place finish.

Group-Stage Top Scorer

Raúl Bobadilla finished as joint top scorer in the Europa League group stage with 6 goals.

He shared the honour with Aritz Aduriz of group rivals Athletic Bilbao.
